Cobra Putter and Dark Speed Series

This was unique shoot in that we had to bring our studio eq to Cobra headquarters due to some studio unavailability and found ourselves working out of a hitting bay for a week of product hero and detail photos. The in-house team sourced the props and art elements and we ended up using a couple of new chairs from the lobby for a more three-dimensional environment. The putters were more straight forward to light and rig because of their blocky shape. The drivers Dark Speed creative had elements of Bonneville Salt Flats in several shots so it we ended up using tube lights at some extreme angles of incidence to the the curved surfaces of the club head deep in the tabletop environment. Tilt shift lenses and macro adapters help us carry focus through most of the scene without having to make extensive focus stacking sequences as well. We have absolutely had a change in our process of lighting with camera ISO getting cleaner above 3200 and small cinema lighting fixture becoming widely available and programable. The confluence of film and video has really left our strobes on the sidelines unless we're freezing action. We like it.
